The Labour government has been so focused on sabotaging the rule of law to protect its corrupt politicians and associates that it has completely ignored the rights of victims. The situation is so dire that women and children alike are being made victims of the justice system. Those who advocate for prisoners’ rights have found an unwitting supporter in the Labour government and one of these advocates is Andrew Azzopardi who advocated for Erin Tanti.
Erin “Stuart” Tanti was sentenced to 20 years in prison after he admitted to the willful homicide of his 15-year old student, Lisa Marie Zahra. He took her to Dingli Cliffs and encouraged to kill herself by jumping off the cliffs. He jumped after her but didn’t have the will to jump as hard as to kill himself. The coward encouraged her to kill herself in a supposed suicide-pact where both of them were supposed to kill themselves.
Now, we know that Erin Tanti was allowed prison leave only for him to impregnate a young woman. Andrew Azzopardi advocated for Erin Tanti and pressured the government and prison authorities to provide him with soft conditions. Andrew Azzopardi is also an “academic” at the University of Malta where he is head of the Department of Youth Studies. Despite having a full-time job at the University of Malta, he also doubles as a journalist with Newsbook with a weekly show. He’s a regular advocate for some of the worst kind of psychopaths in the islands.
Under this Labour government crime pays in Malta, not just for the criminals themselves, but also for those who advocate for them.
