Pope Francis briefly meets JD Vance before greeting the crowds from his balcony

Pope Francis briefly met with US Vice President JD Vance today before greeting the crowds from his balcony ahead of the Easter Mass. This was the first year he did not preside over the Easter service, having recently spent several weeks in hospital. Last week, he visited Regina Coeli prison. The meeting lasted only a few minutes.

The Daily Beast reported that Pope Francis snubbed JD Vance for a meeting last Friday and instead delegated. JD Vance arrived in Rome last Friday after he followed Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to Rome who had just visited the White House.
