The Nationalist Party has just issued a statement condemning Israel’s indiscriminate military attacks in Gaza and called on the Maltese government to recognise the Palestinian State.
This is the first time that the Nationalist Party is urging for the recognition of the Palestinian State in many years, and the first time it has released a damning statement against Israel. The Nationalist Party and its MEPs had previously adopted the same position of the European People’s Party and mostly stayed silent in Gaza. David Casa and Peter Agius even voted against a motion in the European Parliament to discuss Israel’s ban on the The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine (UNRWA).
Peter Agius and David Casa have now changed their position on Israel and Gaza and are condemning Israel’s killing of innocent civilians in Gaza. David Casa had previously condemned Israel’s killing of journalists, but is now also calling for the EU’s suspension of its trading agreement with Israel.
