Elon Musk leaves the government: strikes business partnership with Pavel Durov

Elon Musk has resigned from the US government after having been a cabinet member specifically responsible for a entity he created called the “Department of Government Efficiency” or “DOGE”. Elon Musk initially promised to cut up to $2 trillion in government spending to help erase the budget deficit but only managed to cut up to $175 billion according to DOGE’s official website although this figure is contested. US government spending is actually going up.

EU High Representative Kaja Kallas recenty stated that the EU will seek to replace foreign aid cuts made by the US government. As part of DOGE’s government cuts, the US State Department’s agency, which issued foreign aid programmes, US Aid, was shut down.

The resignation was mocked by the Democrats, who also criticised him for making electoral promises he couldn’t keep, and for hurting ordinary citizens with vindictive cuts on education and social programmes.

Meanwhile, Pavel Durov who was recently arrested in France, has announced a business partnership with Elon Musk which aims to onboard Telegram users onto Grok and X.com. Telegram is Russia’s main online social media app and also a Russian state intelligence asset. X.com is already populated by thousands ofย  of Russian-state bots that disseminate propaganda on a regular basis.
