The Malta Football Referees Association (MFRA) held its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday evening at the Centenary Hall, registering a 72% turnout among eligible members.
Trustin Farrugia Cann was re-elected as President, securing 71 votes to Matthew De Gabriele’s 12, representing an 86% vote of confidence. Ishmael Barbara, Luke Portelli, and Kurt Saliba were also re-elected as General Secretary, Vice President, and Treasurer respectively.
The election outcome reflects continued support for the current administration and its ongoing work in developing and safeguarding the interests of Maltese match officials. Although there had been some talk of disunity and controversy before the meeting, it appears that opposition was at best, minimal.
Newly elected to the Executive Committee are Paula Buttigieg, Maxlee Muscat, Slobodan Petrovic, Duncan Spencer, and Reuben Spiteri.
The electoral process was overseen by an independent board composed of Mitchell Scerri, Peter Abela, and Mark Ciantar, ensuring a fair and transparent vote. Thanks were also extended to Stefan Pace and Duncan Sultana, who continue serving as auditors.
The MFRA expressed its appreciation to all members who participated and reaffirmed its commitment to representing referees at all levels of the game.
