Dutch Prime Minister at cross-roads after coalition government collapses

Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof is at a cross-roads after the government parliamentary majority has collapsed following disagreement by with the coalition leader Geert Wilders over his proposed 10-point plan over immigration.

In his plan, Geert Wilders proposed the total shut-down of Dutch borders to asylum seekers and the immediate deportation of all Syrian migrants.

The coalition government was an alliance organised by Geert Wilders in a compromise with other mainstream parties following his party’s minority victory in the last Dutch parliamentary elections.

The Dutch Prime Minister now needs to either call a new election or successfully compose a new parliamentary-majority which is unlikely under current conditions as Wilders tries to push an uncompromising plan which doesn’t have majority support in parliament.
