On Tuesday evening, Nationalist MP Alex Borg has become the second to announce his intention to contest the PN leadership, following Adrian Delia’s earlier declaration on Monday.
In a stylised social media reel, Borg pledged to present a vision of hope, calling for a “generational shift” and a “winning mentality” within the party.
But beyond the polish, lies a more complicated picture. Borg has only ever held one professional role, and his rise in politics was largely defined by his public defence of controversial land deals that benefited well-connected contractors through public land-leases.
Despite public declarations, no candidate has yet formally submitted the official expression of interest, with the process open until Sunday.
Many remain skeptical, arguing Borg’s polished presence lacks the political weight needed to lead a fractured PN.
