Hamas members who were stationed at the Nasser Medical Complex were stormed by Palestinian armed groups on Thursday night. Reports state that the Palestinian gunmen who stormed the hospital were from the Barbakh family and Hamas members were from Sahm unit. Hamas killed a member of the Barbakh family prompting the family to take revenge.
Up to twenty people have reportedly been killed or injured as a result of the clashes and the hospital has been damaged with some of its ambulances also set alight. A number of pick-up trucks used by Hamas were also burnt during the clashes. Grenades and bombs were also used.
The Palestinian family of Amer Abu Zayed has recently also vowed revenge against Hamas after they killed their son who was one of the student leaders of the anti-Hamas protests. There are other families who vowed revenge against Hamas for the killing of their sons.
Hamas are stepping up their repression against Palestinians in Gaza after having lost most of their support and protests against them kickstarted earlier this year. Videos have also emerged of recent instances of Hamas members torturing children.
Hamas is losing its grip over Gaza as it increasingly faces new challengers including the criminal gang of Yasser Abu Shabab.
