Protests in Gaza continue: Gaza’s academics sign letter against Hamas

Israel conducted at least two airstrikes in Gaza yesterday in Beit Lahia and Al-Mawasi camp in Khan Younis, however lethal attacks seem to have stopped yesterday night, following very deadly weeks for Gazans from Israeli strikes. Israel renewed its offensive against Hamas and civilian infrastructure after unliterally pulling out of the ceasefire agreement.

Palestinians from Gaza were out in the streets again protesting against Hamas and demanding an end to the war with the immediate release of all Israeli hostages. Academics in Gaza have also got together and signed a letter in support of the protests. This is the first time in history that tens of thousands of Palestinians from Gaza came out in the streets in protests against Hamas.

Hamas initially issued statements justifying the protests by describing them as expressions of pain against Israel’s aggression. However, Hamas is now changing its tone and is saying that anyone inciting protests against it is an Israeli collaborator. Hamas has killed up to 600 Palestinians in Gaza in extra-judicial killings since October 7th 2023.
