Politico is reporting that the US government has halted shipments of weapons and munitions, including anti-air missiles, to Ukraine. According to Politico, the Pentagon cited low munitions stockpiles as the main reason for the suspension.
On the other hand, the US government has just approved up to $510 million in arms sales to Israel which includes guided missiles and heavy bombs. The sale still needs to be approved by Congress.
Israel was barred from acquiring heavy bombs by the Biden Administration following its use of these bombs on civillians, but President Donald Trump lifted the restrictions.
Israel says that it needs fresh stockpiles after it used many of its munitions against Iran in the 12-Day War.
Ukraine is currently depending on its own defence industry and European shipments of weapons that include anti-air batteries, drones, and artillery shells. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has so far not kept his promise to provide Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles.
