In a press conference, the spokesperson for the US Department of State, Tammy Bruce, said that halting weapons shipments to Ukraine was “the President’s point of view”. Secretary of State Marco Rubio did not yet comment on the issue.
The US government is halting weapons shipments to Ukraine citing low stockpiles while approving a $510 million arms sales to Israel.
The move is one of the series of many decisions that President Trump has taken in support of Russia and at the expense of Ukraine during his term in office. President Trump wants Ukraine to capitulate and cede territory to Russia. Ukraine has also signed a minerals deal with the US with the hope of obtaining a higher possibility of purchasing US weapons.
President Trump has been consistently withholding weapons and aid to Ukraine even the shipments which were approved by the previous Biden Administration. Ukraine is also not being allowed to purchase US weapons.
