US President Donald Trump has declared a ceasefire between Israel and Iran and concluded that the “12-Day War” between Israel and Iran will be over with the start of the ceasefire.
Earlier during the day Iran launched a barrage of missiles at a US base in Qatar but none of them hit their target.
The US has bombed three of Iran’s nuclear sites on Saturday after Israel started an air war against Iran called “Operation Rising Lion” with the aim of reducing Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and its missile launching capabilities. Israel also killed most of Iran’s top military command.
Iran retaliated against Israel by launching up to 450 missiles most of which have been intercepted by Israel with the aid of the US, the UK and Jordan. Some Iranian missiles hit their target such as the target on the IDF’s headquarters.
Following the attacks by the US, the Islamic Republic of Iran Atomic Energy released a statement saying that the attacks would not impede Iranโs nuclear development.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte gave a press conference prior to a NATO Summit in the Hague and said that NATO is clear on its position that Iran should not get a nuclear weapon and that US strikes on Iran did not violate international law.
