US President Donald Trump has announced that the US bombed Iran’s three nuclear sites of Natanz, Isfahan and the underground site of Fordow which could only be targeted with bunker-buster bombs. Israel had previously made it a priority to target the Fordow nuclear site as Iran conducted uranium enrichment process in the site which could have been used for nuclear weapons.
Most of Iran’s nuclear sites have now been struck either by Israel or the US. The US used B-2 bombers for today’s attacks but F-22 jets have also recently arrived at the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.
President Trump added that if Iran retaliated, the US would respond with even greater force.
Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu hailed US cooperation and support and congratulated President Trump for his “bold decision”.
The Islamic Republic of Iran Atomic Energy has released a statement saying that today’s attacks will not impede Iran’s nuclear development.
The Democrats are condemning President Trump for bombing Iran without Congressional approval.
Saudi Arabia’s Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority stated that it has detected no radioactive pollution in the Gulf as a result of the attacks so far.
