The death toll of children from malnutrition in Gaza has increased to more than 66 children according to the Gazan Health Ministry, with the number increasing from 57 as of May. Doctors Without Borders are reporting that the cases of malnutrition in their two medical facilities in Gaza have quadrupled in the last two months. According to Al-Jazeera journalist from Jabalia in Gaza, Anas Al-Sharif reported that up to 85% of the Gazan population has entered the most dangerous phase of malnutrition, and the scenario is equivalent to a one preceding a famine.
Israel has blocked humanitarian aid into Gaza as of March when it renewed hostilities, and has allowed only the limited and very controlled entrance of a minimum amount of humanitarian aid. Israeli authorities reported that up to 2,104 trucks have entered Gaza from March to late June. The number is way below the minimum requirement as prescribed by the UN of 600 trucks per day.
Israeli airstrikes and shelling have also continued today with dozens killed. Israel is currently using a relentless bombing and killing campaign to push out the Palestinian population in the north of Gaza into camps along the coast and in Rafah.
