The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East has issued a statement saying that it has food available for all of the people in Gaza for the next three months in its distribution sites in Egypt. However, the UNRWA added that this aid is being blocked from entering the Gaza strip. Israel blocked humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza strip last March when it renewed its hostilities.
Israel banned UNRWA from operating in Gaza earlier this year.
Gaza is on the verge of famine with the death count of infant mortality due to hunger increasing, and medical cases of people fainting due to lack of nutrition increasing exponentially. Blocking supplies to Gaza has also been official Israeli government policy ever since it started its invasion of Gaza. Previous Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, who had publicly announced this policy, has a pending arrest warrant against him for war crimes by the International Criminal Court.
Airstrikes were also recorded in the past 24 hours claiming dozens of casualties as a result including in Al-Bureij and Nuseirat refugee camp.
