According to pro-government Israeli media (footage below), Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has taken the decision to occupy Gaza and continue total war against Hamas following footage released of the Israeli hostage held in a Hamas tunnel, Evyatar David. Israeli media sources cite that the footage of Evyatar David has prompted this decision. However, there has been no official announcement made by the Prime Minister’s office.
The militant wing of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, published two videos of Evyatar David in a Hamas one in which he is digging his own grave inside a Hamas tunnel. The hostage looks frail and malnourished. There are an estimated up to 20 Israeli hostages who are still alive in Gaza held by Hamas.
Palestinians in Gaza are facing famine and apart from the risk of getting murdered by the IDF as Israel’s killing spree goes on unabated. Eight Palestinian aid-workers were reportedly killed yesterday by an Israeli airstrike in Salah al-Din Street.
Israel is facing pressure internationally as it is becoming more widely acknowledged that Israel is committing a genocide in Gaza. European nations are set to recognise the State of Palestine in a UN General Assembly next September. European states and the Palestinian Authority are also demanding Hamas to immediately release all hostages and disarm.
