Protests in Israel as Israeli cabinet approves Netanyahu’s plan for the occupation of Gaza

Yesterday, protests took place in various locations in Israel including in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv as the government cabinet approved the plan by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to occupy all of Gaza and continue total war. Protesters in Tel Aviv demanded an immediate ceasefire and the release of all hostages as they marched in front of the Likud party headquarters and the IDF’s headquarters. Meanwhile, a report issued by the European Union to the Council of Ministers has reported that the entrance and delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza is still below the basic requirements.

Gaza is going through a famine as Israel restricts the entrance and distribution of humanitarian aid while forcing the people of Gaza into an ever smaller pocket. The IDF has issued evacuation notices to most of the areas in Gaza leaving only some areas available for civilians to camp including a small area in the coast that includes the Al-Mawasi camp. Airstrikes also took place in Gaza city and Al-Zawaida killing several civilians.

Hopes for a ceasefire in Gaza have now faded as Israel pushes ahead with its renewed war plans and ethnic cleansing.

Also yesterday, the Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir stated that Israel has the capability to establish new borders on all fronts through continuous targeting of its enemies. Yesterday, Israel also targeted and killed a Hezbollah operative in Lebanon with an airstrike.
