Drones hit the city of Dnipro after Trump hails progress in talks with Putin

Russia has just hit the city of Dnipro with drones after US Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, met with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin and President Trump hailed the meeting as productive. President Trump promised to slap Russia with new sanctions if it doesn’t stop the war in Ukraine by August 10th. President Trump is threatening sanctions ad tariffs against buyers of Russian oil to put more pressure on Russia to end its war.

Ukraine President Volodomyr Zelensky spoke to President Donald Trump on the phone following the talks in Moscow. President Zelensky said that Ukraine will defend its independence and that “a lasting peace” is needed. The New York Times is reporting that President Trump wants to meet with Putin and President Zelensky at the same time. European leaders were also on the call with Zelensky and Trump. At least two civilians were killed earlier this week in Zaporizhzhia district as Russian airstrikes against civilians remain relentless.
