Conservationists have confirmed that the second nest at Ramla l-Ħamra in Gozo has fully hatched. On Sunday, a total of 65 hatchlings made their way safely to the sea under the watch of Nature Trust – FEE Malta and ERA officials.
This follows closely on the heels of other recent hatching successes. Last week, hatchlings began emerging from the first Ramla nest, with around 50 turtles reaching the water. At the start of the month, Malta’s first nest of the season at Ġnejna produced its own group of hatchlings, marking the beginning of what has become a record-breaking nesting season.
Officials from ERA and Nature Trust, supported by volunteers, remain on site around the clock to safeguard the nests and guide the public in protecting the turtles during this critical period. Their dedication has been central to ensuring the survival of these hatchlings and to preserving Malta’s marine biodiversity.
