The Labour Party’s MEP, Daniel Attard, is shaping his political career entirely around his relationship with Joseph Muscat. As we noted during his campaign for the European Parliament, after defending Muscat over his crimes, attacking the judiciary for investigating him, and openly associating himself with Malta’s most corrupt politician, it is now very difficult for Daniel Attard to take a different political path that sets him apart from that association.
This is mostly what Daniel Attard has left in politics, so it is in his interest to keep doubling-down on his relationship with Joseph Muscat. Alex Agius Saliba is in a similar situation and trails behind Daniel Attard on this matter. Joseph Muscat’s daughters, Étoile and Soleil Muscat are doing an internship with Daniel Attard at the European Parliament via the political grouping of the S&D.
Daniel Attard is currently being investigated by the Belgian authorities over an undisclosed gift he received from Huawei in the form of VIP tickets for a football match.
Joseph Muscat’s daughters seem to have grown up blissfully ignorant about the crimes of their father otherwise they wouldn’t feel comfortable joining the political fray by hanging out with his political allies. Obviously, their mere presence in political circles legitimatises Joseph Muscat even further and this is also why Daniel Attard is more than happy to promote them.
Politics within Labour is set to grow even more bizarre as Joseph Muscat’s shadow looms ever larger over the party.
