The latest oracle of truth and public-broadcasting talk-show host wants Keith Schembri on his podcast, and Labour supporters are thrilled. Ricky Caruana has already laundered the reputations of half the rogues’ gallery in Maltese politics – at this point, why not Keith Schembri too?
Note that Keith Schembri should be facing justice and the only reason why he is free, is that the current Police Commissioner refused to conduct any thorough investigations and prosecutions despite various FIAU investigations on Keith Schembri. Keith Schembri has been arraigned in Court over the Progress Press case but the Police didn’t follow through the case after its initial investigators have all left the Police. Keith Schembri has also been arraigned in Court over the Vitals Case which was brought to Court simply by a Magisterial Inquiry without any follow-up by Prosecutors and the Police.
Keith Schembri is still expected to be arraigned over the Electrogas case and has not been arraigned and investigated on many other crimes including covering up and protecting his friend Yorgen Fenech while interfering in the Police investigation over the murder of the journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.
It’s also a myth that Keith Schembri and the disgraced ex-premier Joseph Muscat are no longer friends, but Yorgen Fenech may feel betrayed by Keith Schembri for being left alone to shoulder in Court his suspected responsibility over commissioning the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia. After all they were very good friends right up to the night prior of Yorgen Fenech’s arrest.
Prime Minister Robert Abela has protected Joseph Muscat and his friends in exchange for winning the Labour Party leadership but kept protecting them still because he is weak, pathetic and blackmailed by them. He is as much responsible for enabling and justifying their corruption and escape justice over their potential and suspected involvement in the murder of a journalist.
The Labour Party enabled this disaster and criminality, and it is now woven into its legacy. Because it has never confronted the issue, the party will keep living in the past until time overtakes it.
