A new anti-Hamas militant group called “The People’s Army – Forces of Northern Gaza” has emerged with a publics announcement by its leaders stating that the group will be protecting citizens returning back to their homes and warned Hamas not to approach its fighters and territories. The group is thought to be operating from Gaza City and mainly the neighbourhoods of Beit Lahia and Jabalia.
The group is thought to be linked to the criminal armed group of Yasser Abu Shabab called “Palestinian Forces” which operates in the south of Gaza namely in Rafah and Khan Younis but there is no confirmation of this.
The armed group of Yasser Abu Shabab is the actual group which was armed and supplied by Israel but it has remained unscathed as Hamas falsely reported it was hunting down Israeli-collaborationists. Hamas is fighting for control over Gaza and is purging dissident clans and individuals.
The IDF also reported that some Hamas members have tried to access a destroyed weapons depo in Khan Younis and were shot by IDF forces. Other reports of seperate shooting incidents by the IDF state that the IDF shot at Palestinians tryign to return to their homes. Reports state that up to 9 Palestinians were killed by the IDF.
However, there is also a return to daily-life in Gaza with video footage (below) of Khan Younis showing the opening of the market.
Hamas is obliged to disarm and handover administration according to President Donald Trump’s peace plan but Hamas is currently doing the opposite and is trying to consolidate its power in Gaza.
Israel has closed the Rafah crossing and blocked humanitarian aid again and justified this decision by saying that Hamas did not return all the dead bodies of the Israeli hostages. Israel also accused the group of not making enough effort to find the bodies.
