Kamran Agayev, who looks like he could have worked as a night-club bouncer, but is actually the official owner of Alkagesta, is living in Moscow, Russia, according to the Azeri press. Despite official records showing that Kamran Agayev is the majority shareholder of Alkagesta, he is widely believed to be fronting his cousin, Adnan Ahmadzada.
Adnan Ahmadzada was SOCAR’s chief trader before building his own private trading empire via various companies including Alkagesta and Oilmar. Adnan Ahmadzada is currently arrested in Azerbaijan and has been found guilty of serious crimes including threatening the economic security of Azerbaijan. He is being accused of having imported crude Russian oil and mixed these products with Azeri oil.
Alkagesta is Malta’s biggest oil-bunker trader and it is also suspected of having imported Russian oil into Malta. The company is being investigated by multiple authorities worldwide.
