The Montekristo Estates host an illegal circus – animal rights activists urge the Animal Welfare Director to act

The Montekristo Estates, owned by Charles (Ċaqnu) Polidano, is hosting a circus show called “Circo Orfei”: another blatant and unlawful use of animals in captivity at a site already notorious for such practices. The Labour government banned animal circuses in Malta in 2014. The law is now being flouted as the incumbent Labour government introduced laws the legalised the captivity of wild animals, zoos and the trading of wild animals.

The media organisation Vuċi għall-Annimali is urging the public to petition the Director of Animal Welfare to apply the law and ban the circus.

The Labour government is increasingly legislating in favour of the privileges of the few at the expense of the national interest.
