Hamas keeps refusing to disarm but internal feuds emerge

Hamas is consistently denying to disarm and handover administration of Gaza despite violating President Donald Trump’s peace plan. After purging Palestinian families and dissidents opposed to its rule, Hamas has taken over the aid system in Gaza and is selling several aid-products to Palestinians in Gaza that were meant to be deliver for free, and products taxed include cooking oil, canned goods and fruit.

A Hamas delegation led by Khalil al-Hayya had a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, yesterday in Istanbul but Turkey did not disclose the discussions of the meeting. The meeting with Hamas officials was held in preparation for a meeting tomorrow between the Foreign Ministers of the Muslim-majority countries that attended the peace-signing ceremony by President Trump and these include: ย Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Pakistan and Indonesia. The meeting’s agenda is on the new security force and administration that will be taking over Gaza.

Israel still hasn’t withdrawn from Gaza and it is highly unlikely Israel will withdraw unless Hamas fulfills its obligation and disarms. Hamas members are also being offered an amnesty and safe passage abroad if they disarm. Israel is currently stepping up its attacks in Lebanon against Hezbollah and is also continuing arming its proxy militias in the south of Syria. Israel has also conducted several strikes in Gaza after it said that Hamas is refusing to cooperate on its handover of the bodies of the hostages. Both Hamas members and civilians have reportedly been killed in these attacks.

Meanwhile, Hamas infighting between the factions of Khalil al-Hayya and Khaled Mashal have emerged with accusations of fraud, corruption and sexual misconduct being flung in public. One of the issues seems to have originated with Hamas fighters who ended up in Israel’s occupation zone, complaining to have been abandoned.
