According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, at least 13 journalists have gone missing from the city of Al-Fashir after it was captured by the genocidal-Rapid Support Forces. There are is still no information about Muammar Ibrahim. The Darfur Journalists Forum has also confirmed that three female journalists were raped by the RSF in Al-Fashir.
The news about missing journalists in Sudan comes just as the EU celebrates the day against crimes against journalists. The EU issued a statement to commemorate the event but there is no reference to Sudanese journalists or journalists killed in Gaza by the IDF this year.
The United Nations is reporting that up to 62,000 people have fled Al-Fashir and up to 32,000 people fled Bara – another city captured by the RSF last week. Up to 3,000 people have been massacred in Al-Fashir and many women have been raped. Displaced people from Al-Fashir gave their testimonies to aid-workers as they arrived in Tawila.
Aid-workers still can’t reach the city of Al-Fashir but aid-supplies under the control of the RSF did enter the city.
It is looking increasingly likely that President Donald Trump won’t be involved with Sudan as he takes the side of the United Arab Emirates which is arming and supporting the RSF. No country has yet condemned the UAE’s role in the massacres at Al-Fashir.
Meanwhile, the US State Department has just issued a statement condemning the RSF and its ethnic-violence and called for a ceasefire and a peaceful solution.
Meanwhile, more footage is being shared online of RSF officers enticing their troops to commit war crimes, despite pledges made by the RSF’s commander that the RSF will protect civilians.
