Hamas says it will hand over administration to the Palestinian Authority: won’t give up weapons

Hamas official Mousa Abu Marzouk was on Al-Jazeera (Arabic) and stated that Hamas has agreed to handover administration to a Minister of the Palestinian Authority. The decision is part of the peace process brokered imposed by President Donald Trump.

Hamas is still in control of Gaza after purging its Palestinian opponents.

Mousa Abu Marzouk said that the US and Israel oppose the establishment of an international armed force in Gaza unless it is led by them. In addition, Mousa Abu Marzouk said that it is highly unlikely that Hamas will accept the presence of any international military force in Gaza.

He said that talks about the second-phase of the process and the discussions about arms in Gaza are yet to begin.

Press reports state that the US is seeking UN Security Council approval for its peace-keeping force in Gaza.

Israel and President Trump have vowed to destroy Hamas if they don’t disarm.

Brief clashes took place today in Khan Younis between the IDF and Hamas militants. Two airstrikes were also reported.
