Money laundered from the public hospitals concessions in Emirati banks went unchecked

We can never be sure of the extent of the money that has been siphoned off from the public hospitals concession because significant sums of money were laundered in banks in the Emirates. The Magisterial Inquiry is lacking in details about the money transfers in banks in the Emirates indicating there was no effort by local institutions to extract this information.

The Emirates is where Joseph Muscat has undisclosed bank accounts. Keith Schembri also opened bank accounts in the Emirates as soon as the public hospitals concessions was awarded to Vitals. Keith Schembri, Kornad Mizzi and Joseph Muscat were in Dubai in February 2016. Joseph Muscat travelled again to Dubai in the following month.

It has already been established and publicly known that the Police refused to conduct parallel investigations along the Magisterial Inquiry. The Attorney-General did not conduct her investigations and issued the charges without going through the investigations of the Magisterial Inquiry.

The Magisterial Inquiry was the only effort conducted to investigate the extensive fraud and corruption in the public hospitals concessions granted to Vitals and Steward’s. It is expected that there are massive efforts by the Labour government to delegitimise the Magisterial Inquiry.

You can read the full Magisterial Inquiry from this link.

The Prime Minister said that there was no corruption in the public hospitals concessions awarded to Vitals and Steward’s.
