Yesterday the Courts handed a significant victory to Keith Schembri and his previous functionary Sandro Craus in the case about Melvin Theuma’s phantom job. Keith Schembri posted a message on his social page saying that the case was initiated by members of the Nationalist Party.
The case is very serious because the phantom job handed to Melvin Theuma by Keith Schembri, is a direct link with the murder case of Daphne Caruana Galizia. The Court seems to have sabotaged the case with a very unusual decision it took by dismissing the evidence of Melvin Theuma: he was the prime witness in the case. His testimony was dismissed over “human rights” issues. The Magistrate who passed the judgement is currently embattled by suspension proceedings against her for having a very large number of pending cases.
Melvin Theuma, who testified by oath that he was the middle-man between Yorgen Fenech an the hitmen that murdered Daphne Caruana Galizia, was given a phantom job with the government by Keith Schembri: Melvin Theumas himself admitted that the job was fraudulent because he kept being paid despite failing to show up for work. The case was very clear-cut and there was plenty of evidence for a conviction. The bizarre idea that someone’s human rights have been breached in the procedures of this very serious criminal case, with clear-cut evidence doesn’t present a good impression of the Court’s work.
Supposedly, the Attorney-General should appeal this case ass they would do with most criminal cases, so there may still be more developments with this case.
Obviously, Keith Schembri is lying, but I’m also glad that he is lying so blatantly instead of remaining silent. The more he talks, the more he exudes his criminality in in the public in clear view.
