Updated: Now, Minister Galdes is saying that he bought the property at the standard prices of that time and he also said he has submitted his documents to the journalist, although the journalist already has the copies of the property sale and that’s why the story was published so most probably Minister Galdes submitted nothing new. His statement is being published below.
Apparently, Times of Malta picked up a smoking gun about the well-known, so called “invasion of privacy rumour”, that effectively, Social Housing Minister Roderick Galdes is buying cheap properties from developers. Minister Roderick Galdes bought a penthouse in Gozo from Joseph Porteli at the incredible bargain price unseen since prehistoric times.
The penthouse was sold to him for €140,000 with the official website listing the apartments starting at €163,000.
Social Housing Minister Roderick Galdes accumulated a significant property portfolio whilst serving as government Minister and Social Housing Minister. Now, the Times of Malta has evidence that he has been buying these properties at a bargain from developers with the remaining difference of the value of the property, effectively and potentially being the bribe that he was being paid.
So the question should be, what did Minister Galdes give to Joseph Portelli and his associates?
