It’s always communism to blame when a corrupt politician is accused of enriching themselves exponentially during the time they held public office.
Social Housing Minister Roderick Galdes accumulated a significant property portfolio as a government Minister because he is a free-market aficionado and not a communist. However, he reiterated that the Labouer government is socialist because it is building more social housing.
Minister Galdes bought a โฌ140,000 penthouse from a company that was awarded a โฌ27 million in social housing projects. He said he locked-in the price for the property with a โฌ5,000 deposit in 2021 and purchased it in 2024 – a truly unique and very unusual deal by any local standards.
I can see clearly that he looks confused and desperate to justify his sleaze and corruption as he babbles incomprehensible nonsense. He should be preparing for his political exit or an inevitable corruption case against him, especially since corruption has no prescription limits in Maltese law. He’s in for a very long-ride.
Just yet another lesson why you should never engage in corrupt practices while holding public office.
