Prior to giving an interview to Il-Każin about growing behaviour issues in schools, ADPD – Green Party Leader, Sandra Gauci, did not request a permission from the Ministry of Education. Educators have been forced by the Ministry of Education to request a permission every time they speak to the press about issues related to the education system. In addition, the Ministry of Education is currently conducting a campaign pressuring educators not to speak to the press about ongoing cases and issues.
Apart from being the leader of Malta’s Green Party, Sandra Gauci is also an educator herself. In her extensive interview on Il-Każin, serious issues and problems in the education system such as behaviour issues were discussed extensively in public for the first time. Sandra Gauci’s interview will probably prompt other educators to become more vocal while the Ministry of Education conducts an active censorship campaign against its educators.
