Maltese Immigration Police deport man to North African country following court conviction

In the first days of the new year, Malta’s Immigration Police successfully carried out a forced return operation, repatriating a man to a North African country.

The individual had appeared before the Maltese courts in 2025, facing several charges, including theft and drug possession offences committed in St Julian’s. He was found guilty and received a two-year prison sentence, suspended for a period of four years.

Following the court’s ruling, the authorities issued a Return Decision and a Removal Order. The man was subsequently held at a detention centre while all necessary arrangements were completed to facilitate his return to his country of origin.

The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the Immigration Police to enforce return decisions in line with Maltese law and immigration regulations.
