MPs Declarations of assets were subject to Police investigations – but these investigations fizzled out

The reason why the Prime Minister is fighting a battle against the Standards Commissioner over the publications of the declaration of assets of members of parliament, is that these declarations have been subject of police investigations last year. As always happens in Malta, the Police investigations were initially prompted by press stories.

Eventually, these investigations were shut down by Police Commissioner Angelo Gafa.

Our ongoing investigation is also related to these declaration of assets. The Maltese Herald is currently gathering the data about several cases which may lead to one of our most important stories so far.
