The Times of Malta is currently running the foreign news section with an editorial against the US intervention in Venezuela and they are running stories with “experts” stating their opinion on the matter. In this context, Times of Malta also asked “experts” about Malta’s relationship with the US and most of these opinions happened to be taken from a script by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs: China has been very vocal in stating that the US intervention in Venezuela goes contrary to international law.
Supposedly, according to these experts, given that the US is violating international law, we should develop relations with China – also this is news that China has suddenly become a proponent of the international rules-based-order. This kind of naivety however is rather fake and very disingenuous. You can see below the points provided by a professor at the University of Malta (Anna Khakee) which directly correspond to China’s positions. Anna Khakee says that China should be brought onto the table that decides the international-rules-based-order, that the West should drop its demands against China’s human rights violations and that Malta should be used as a platform to enable China a better relationship with the West. Here below you can see her comments. Then further below you can see linked the corresponding statements by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs which are exactly the same.
China is conducting an active belligerent policy against Taiwan and the Philippines.
