During the course of the trial-proceedings over the murder of Neville Baldacchino by Stephen Caruana, who was married to Joe Gaffarena’s daughter, a second police officer was also found to have been in business with Joe Gafferna. Like Daniel Żammit, Andrew Saint John was also initially involved in the case of Stephen Caruana with the prosecution. Andrew Saint John admitted during the proceedings that even he had a business relationship with Joe Gaffarena.
Daniel Żammit previously resigned from the Police but Andrew Saint John is still a police office until today.
The case took 18-years to go to trial. The Police never officially unannounced an investigation over suspected obstruction of justice although this is exactly what seems to have happened via the business conflicts-of-interests between the prosecuting police officers and the relatives of Romina Caruana (the wife who was having an affair with the murdered secret lover, Neville Baldacchino).
