At least another 80 political prisoners have been released from Venezuelan prisons including opposition leader Víctor Borjas of the state of Zulia who surprised his daughter dressed as a teddy bear. The emotional reunion is shown below.
Around 160 political prisoners have been released from Venezuelan prisons but another 777 still remain incarcareted according to Foro Penal: these include 173 military officers, 99 women and 2 adolescents.
Families of prisoners are camping outside prisons waiting for good news and pressuring authorities to release their relatives.
The US Department of State is coordinating these releases with the Venezuelan government. Current Venezuelan interim President Delcy Rodríguez pledged to cooperate with the US.
