President Donald Trump has ordered his first overseas troop deployment as 150 US troops arrive in Nigeria to help the government fight the Boko Haram and ISIS terrorist groups in the Middle Belt. Islamic terrorist groups in the Middle Belt of Nigeria have been harassing and systematically targeting various communities, including Muslim ones, killing hundreds in senseless killings.
President Trump conducted airstrikes on the terrorist groups in late December last year.
President Trump’s attention has specifically diverted to Nigeria due to the fact that many victims are Christians. President Trump is selling this overseas adventure at home as a foreign intervention to protect Christians. He made his announcement during a visit to Washington by the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo Félix Tshisekedi.
President Trump brokered a peace deal between Congo and Rwanda that is not holding up as Rwanda’s proxy militia, the M23 rebels, have continued their military attacks despite the peace deal. However, President Trump yesterday said that he has signed the biggest minerals deal in history with Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi. President Trump promised in his presidential election campaign to end “senseless” US foreign deployments abroad and instead focus on protecting the US border.
