Pseudo-Trump Peace Plans fall apart in Congo and Cambodia/Thailand

President Donald Trump has claimed to have solved six wars in the world and is demanding a Nobel Peace Prize. However, two peace deals that he claims to have brokered are not producing the result that he expected.

A peace deal between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic Congo, signed in Washington, has proven to be futile to stop the military advances of the Rwandan-backed M23 rebels into Congolese territory. The M23 rebels have captured yet another city in the South Kivu province after effortlessly challenging the city’s defences ofย Uvira on the border of Burundi border. Footage below shows M23 rebels surrounding the house of Jean-Jacquesย Purusi, the Governor of Uvira. The Rwandan-backed M23 rebels started a war against Congo last year and have successfully captured the North Kivu province with little resistance from the Congolese Army. The US is interested in obtaining mineral deals from the Congolese government and the ongoing conflict is also based in minerally-rich areas.ย

Meanwhile, war broke out again between Cambodia and Thailand, despite President Trump stating that he solved their conflict. Thailand has recently invaded Cambodia and captured the Cambodian city of Boeung Trakoun. Cambodia and Thailand are at war against each other over a border dispute along the range of the Dangrek Mountains which cuts right through the Thai and Cambodian border. In late July, President Trump took credit for a ceasefire signed by the two countries but the principle mediator was Malaysiaโ€™s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Footage below shows the Royal Thai Army moving into Cambodia.
