Israel is still acting unilaterally in Gaza despite the formation of the Gaza Peace Board by the US government, which has also been approved by the United Nations Security Council. Italy and Romania are the latest EU countries to join the board as observers.
At least 9 people in Gaza were killed during the weekend due to Israeli airstrikes: bombings also took place in the south of Lebanon.
Israel plans another wide-scale military assault on Gaza on the pretense that Hamas is still in power, however Israel’s intentions are also aimed at the total ethnic cleansing of Gaza with several parts of Gaza already declared under permanent occupation of Israel. Israel also plans to go ahead with official settlement plans in the State of Palestine (West Bank).
Hamas is obliged to hand over power and disarm according to the UN Security Council and Gaza Peace Plan but Hamas is instead consolidating power.
US President Donald Trump pledged up to $5 billion for the Gaza Peace Board.
