European Union reiterates support for UN Security Council Resolution 2803 of Gaza Peace Plan

During a press briefing yesterday, the EU Commission reiterated that it is ready to work with the US to implement the UN Security Council Resolution 2803 on Gaza. The EU has concerns about President Donald Trump’s Gaza Peace Board and its compatibility with the UN Charter, however it has stated that it is ready to work the US to implement the UN resolution. The EU also reiterated its support for the two-state solution.

The UN Security Council Resolution 2803 recognises President Trump’s Board of Peace but the board is bound by the implementation of its peace plan. According to this peace plan, Hamas has to disarm and Israel has to withdraw from Gaza while allowing the full entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza. You can read the resolution here.

Hamas has reiterated that it will not disarm and Israel has not begun withdrawing from Gaza.

The EU Commission also condemned current plans in Israel to continue with expansions of Israeli settlements in the State of Palestine. Israel has been increasing its illegal settlement expansion into Palestine during the past few years. Previous Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert accused the Israeli government of ethnic cleansing with regard to its policy on the State of Palestine.
