Sweden seizes Russian sanctioned cargo vessel

Sweden seized a Russian sanctioned cargo vessel from its Shadow Fleet that transported grain from Crimea to Syria. The cargo vessel, Caffa (IMO 9143611), flew a fake flag from Guinea and was captured by the Swedish Police and Coast Guard in the Baltic Sea outside the city of Trelleborg.

The vessel was traveling from Casablanca (Morocco) to Saint Petersburg, Russia.

European countries are stepping up their pressure on Russia’s Shadow Fleet with Belgium and France recently seizing Russian vessels.
