Belgium seizes Russian oil-tanker

Belgium has seized a Russian oil “Shadow Fleet” tanker outside its coast with the help of the French navy. The ship was escorted to the port of Zeebrugge in Bruges.

This is the first Russian vessel seized by Belgium and the second vessel seized in Europe this year over sanctioned-oil trading after France seize the Russian vessel, Grinch, in January. Finland also seized a Russian vessel involved in cable-sabotage earlier this year.

The Belgian Minister of Defence and Foreign affairs Theo Francken announced the military operation called Operation Blue Intruder and said that without his shadow fleet, Vladimir Putin can’t wage his war on Ukraine. He added that these vessels will be taken out one by one until Putin ends his war of aggression.
