Israel causes environmental disaster in Tehran after air strike on oil depots: Iran to escalate actions over attack

US press reports state that Israel was responsible for the attacks on Tehran’s oil depots including the Aqdasiyeh oil depot, the Shahran oil depot and the Tehran oil refinery. US press reports are also stating that attack came as a surprise to US officials who did not expect the attack to be conducted with such extent. .ย ย

The attack on the oil facilities has caused acid rain to fall onto Tehran (footage below) with the hydrocarbons turning into sulphuric acid after combustion. The scenes are reminiscent of when Saddam Hussein burnt Kuwait’s oil wells and caused widespread environmental damage as well significantly affecting the health of many US personnel and Kuwaitis.

CNN journalist Frederik Pleitgen, who is currently in Tehran, said that Iranian officials told him that the war will escalate further following Israel’s attacks on Tehran’s oil facilities. As a result, Iran’s attacks on oil and energy facilities in the Gulf are expected to continue despite the recent apology issued by Iran’s President Massoud Pezeshkian.
