From starting a total war against the Iranian regime, to limiting the objectives of war and then making a right-about turn as oil prices soar, President Trump has made another TACO as his war on Iran turned into simply an excursion.
The excursion left Iranian civilians dead and an environmental disaster while the regime is still intact. Israel even failed to assassinate Ali Khamenei’s successor and despite the restoration of tanker traffic through the strait of Hormuz, the Islamic regime in Iran has only been weakened militarily but not domestically. The US objectives of the war aren’t even fulfilled. Despite destroying Iran’s capabilities to launch ballistic capabilities, the loss of this capability is only temporally and the Islamic regime hasn’t lost its capacity to import and supply itself with weapons. The regime has neither lost its capability to arm its proxies across the region.
The Gulf states which host US bases are now under constant target and are also vulnerable to Iranian drones. Ukrainian specialists have traveled to the Gulf to offer their assistance. Europe is now also a target of Iran and acts of terrorism are also increasing.
President Trump successfully proved that Chinese and Russian military technology are useless against US military might, but he has been unable to leverage this military might where it actually matters and that is to effect regime-change. Ultimately, the enemy has survived and is still capable of conducting hostilities across the region. President Trump also added that he may take over the Strait of Hormuz, however the problem with this idea is that he would have to be compelled to do so if the Islamic regime remains in power and retains control over strategic maritime routes.
Effectively, this war has been a disaster conducted via outright incompetence and lack of planning. Israel has been pressuring the US to join it in a war against Iran for years on end, and now Israel has lost this card to an incompetent President. Israel is going to have an increasingly very hard time to convince any other US President to join it in a “military excursion”.
The Islamic regime is still in place and is still threatening Western ships. As of yesterday Iran launched drones at Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain. The United Arab Emirates has intercepted Iranian drones as early this morning. President Trump is saying the war on Iran is soon complete while Iran still has the capability to directly threaten the region. Without a regime change in Iran, the US is incapable of fully achieving its military objectives. The end result is not really a victory for the US although Israel is safer as Iran has less ballistic missiles.
