French soldier killed by Iranian attack on Iraqi base: Italy to pull its troops out of Iraq

One French military officer was killed by an Iranian drone and missile attack on a joint French and Peshmerga base in Erbil in the Makhmour area , Iraq. Footage of the attack below.

Italy is also in the process of pulling out its troops from Iraq after Iran targeted the NATO-compound Camp Singara in a separate attack in Erbil on the night of March 11-12th. Italian military commander Colonel Stefano Pizzotti aid that no one was injured in the attack as the Italian troops took cover. The Italian government has also said that the withdrawal was planned in advanced of the attack as a response to the US war on Iran.

European troops have been in Iraq as part of the war against ISIS in Operation Inherent Resolve.

Both France and Italy have said that they do not want to be involved in the war against Iran. The US has temporary lifted sanctions on Russian oil while the Battle of Hormuz is ongoing.
