Arctic Metagaz to be salvaged by Maltese authorities if it enters territorial waters

Government sources who spoke to The Maltese Herald earlier today have informed us that the Arctic Metagaz will be salvaged at the cost of the authorities if it enters territorial waters. The Russian LNG tanker was bombed by Ukrainian drones outside Hurd’s Bank in a region known for its illegal activity by the Russian Shadow Fleet.

The wreckage has been drifting at sea outside Malta’s waters. The ship needs to be brought to shore and have its fuel tanks emptied to avoid spills while the wreckage needs to be taken off the seas to avoid any potential accidents.

Malta’s Prime Minister Robert Abela had been notified way in advance of potential risks by the Russian Shadow Fleet travelling through and outside Maltese waters.
