According to the latest data by Eurostat, Malta had the highest GDP growth in Europe in the last quarter of 2025. Malta came second following Ireland in overall GDP growth for 2025. In Q4 2025, seasonally adjusted GDP increased by 0.2% in both the Euro area and the EU, compared with the previous quarter.
Malta’s GDP growth came at 2.1% followed by Lithuania with 1.7%. The largest decreases were felt in Ireland with -3.8%, Romania with -1.9% and Estonia and Luxembourg with both -0.1%. Ireland recorded a reduction in its GDP growth due to a large GDP growth reading in Q1 due to large pharmaceutical exports to the US ahead of tariffs.
Compared with the same quarter of the previous year, seasonally adjusted GDP increased by 1.2% in the Euro area and by 1.4% in the EU in the fourth quarter of 2025, after +1.4% in the Euro area and +1.7% in the EU in the previous quarter.
