In a statement published early this morning on his Truth Social media platform, US President Donald Trump said that he is suspending his threat to bomb Iran’s power plants citing ongoing negotiations with the Islamic regime. However, Iranian media is denying that President Trump is in contact with the regime and that negotiations are ongoing.
Later on President Trump confirmed the ongoing talks and said that the Iranian government should get a better public relations team.
The oil price slumped with the announcement falling from $98.2 t0 $82.7 (WTI) in just five minutes following the announcement and the price is now hovering below $90 as of writing. Stock market futures pumped higher.
US attacks on Iran have subsided during the last weekend and so have Iranian attacks on the Gulf states. Meanwhile, Israeli press reports state that the US is planning to invade Iran’s Kharg island.
