Both US airstrikes on Iran and Iranian strikes against the Gulf states have subsided significantly during this weekend. Israel is still striking targets in Tehran while Iran is responding by firing ballistic missiles to Israel hitting a civilian neighbourhood in Tel Aviv and also the cities of Arad (feature photo) and Dimona in the South of Israel.
Iran also fired two ballistic missiles at the joint US-UK base in Diego Garcia, about 4,000 kilometres south of Iran. One of the missiles failed in flight, and another one was intercepted.
President Donald Trump has threatened to blow-up Iran’s power-plants if the Strait of Hormuz is not opened. The IRGC are still in control of the Strait of Hormuz and are disallowing Western ships from passing. Ships with oil destined to oil are passing prior to achieving permission by the IRGC.
European countries including France and Italy are negotiating with Iran to allow safe-passage for European ships while similar negotiations took place between Japan and Iran. Western Allies do not want to participate in military operations against the Islamic regime of Iran and have only pledged their navies in the Strait once a ceasefire is declared. The Battle of Hormuz remains ongoing.
